Flavour Profile: Burt’s Blue is an “approachable blue” with a bloomy rind of greenish, grey Penicillin Roqueforti mould. Its paste is off white in colour and luxurious in texture. It softens with age and can have a faint aroma of mushrooms. Burt’s Blue has a creamy taste with subtle tangy notes from its blue veins and a slightly salty finish.
Drink Pairing: Enjoy with our Niepoort Crusted Port or a fruit forward red wine such as our Miss Harry Shiraz.
About the Maker: Burt’s Cheese started out life in January 2009 in Altrincham, Cheshire. It was a career in the dairy industry that inspired Claire Burt to follow her passion for cheese-making. It started as a hobby on her kitchen table, but after winning Gold for Burt’s Blue Cheese at the International Cheese Show – Nantwich 2010, she decided to pursue the business full-time
How to Enjoy: It’s balanced enough to enjoy on its own, but it would also go great on a pizza or in a toastie.
